Our equipmentWe use eco-friendly equipment including electric-powered and battery-powered lawn mowers.
Most of our mowing is done with corded electric mowers plugged into our client's electrical outlets. Any areas out of range of our corded electric mowers will be serviced by battery-powered mowers. Our battery-powered mowers are generally saved exclusively for difficult to reach areas. Due to the current limitations of power cords and batteries, we may use traditional gas-powered equipment on hilly lawns or very large lawns. We also use electric-powered trimmers, edgers, and blowers. |

eko-Lawn uses Milorganite—America’s favorite organic nitrogen fertilizer.
Milorganite’s organic nitrogen is derived from dried microbes. This nitrogen is gentle on plants and tends not to leach. Milorganite releases its minerals and nutrients slowly over a 10 to 12-week period. The fertilizer feeds the grass and soil on a constant basis resulting in uniform growth (without excessive grass clippings) and a well established root system. It’s great for sandy soils and adds organic matter too.
Milorganite 5-2-0 fertilizer contains 4% iron. Grass leaves take up this iron, giving them a deep green color. However, iron does not make plants grow fast. The result is a lawn with the color you desire without excessive growth (and mowing!). This deep green color stays with the lawn through hot, dry summer months. Plus, because this iron is organically complexed, it does not stain concrete like driveways, patios, sidewalks, or other areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Milorganite safe for children and pets?
Yes. Children and pets can safely go onto areas that have been fertilized with Milorganite. Milorganite meets the most stringent criteria imposed on any fertilizer product for health, safety and environmental concerns.
What if my dog eats Milorganite?
Milorganite is not toxic if eaten. Your dog is not facing a “life threatening” crisis that requires medical care or emergency stomach pumping. How much discomfort your dog has will depend on how much Milorganite was consumed. Dogs that eat a small amount of Milorganite do not show signs of discomfort. If you have further questions, please call (800) 304-6204.
What is the difference between Organic and ‘Regular’ fertilizers?
Organic nutrients are "stored" in complex organic molecules until soil microorganisms break them down and "release" the nutrients for plant use. Regular synthetic fertilizers are chemical-based and need to be watered in.
Does Milorganite kill weeds?
No. Milorganite is strictly a fertilizer. However, a thick lawn will choke out existing weeds and help prevent weeds from germinating seedlings.
